I’m from Beijing, move to USA about 22 years ago. every time when i see video like this it gives me this feeling of belonging. i guess no mater how long i have been away and where I’m at, i am still that little boy living in Beijing

@is2pot well it also means that there’s more people now who can afford to use these facilities. More office buildings mean that more people are transferring from the cheap labor industry to the service industry. unless those buildings are all empty O_O
@carcassh ok? lets look at the options. china could either continue its course of progress. or become democratic, fall apart into smaller chunks and loose its status as a second superpower and suffer a standstill in economic development for a decade. let me remind you that russia’s problems of corruption and poor living conditions have not improved much after becoming democratic. Russia still ranks #1 internationally as the most corrupt country. the world’s most corrupt country is democratic.

@is2pot it does take time for the whole society besides its economy to develop, but you have to admit that China is on the way trying to figure out its own version of modernization. btw I like Beijing a lot. It’s a city in which the oldest tradition and stay with the advance guard peacefully.
