Thursday marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the Republic of Korea. However, instead of high-level visits or grand ceremonies, the anniversary has been marred by a year of tensions between the two over US-led deployment of THAAD. The anniversary also comes on the heels of the first hundred days in office of the new ROK President Moon Jae-in. What’s been Moon’s attitude towards the THAAD deployment? What could be done to put the bilateral ties back on a healthy track?
