At least 28 heads of state to attend Beijing summit in May

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has announced that the Belt and Road Forum will be held on the 14th and 15th of May in Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to deliver the keynote speech at the opening ceremony. He will also host a roundtable meeting on policy and strategy development. At least 28 heads of state and government leaders are expected to attend the forum, including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Other topics of discussion will include infrastructure, trade and economic cooperation, energy resources and people-to-people exchanges. The Belt and Road initiative was first proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013.
