Belt and Road: Chinese President Xi hosts world leaders at Beijing banquet

Chinese President Xi Jinping has hosted a welcome banquet for delegates attending the Belt and Road Forum in Beijing. The event took place at the Great Hall of the People in the Chinese capital. President Xi addressed the 29 foreign heads of state and government, welcoming them to the forum. Other delegates include entrepreneurs, financial and business leaders, and journalists from over 130 countries. Representatives of key international organisations — such as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres — are also in attendance. Discussions at the two-day forum will focus on China’s grand plan to link its rapidly expanding economy to the development of countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.
