Chairman of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff to visit Seoul, Tokyo and Beijing next week

published: 2017-08-10 04:25:26미 합참의장 다음주 초 방한 The Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff is set for talks next week in Seoul with his South Korean counterpart… to discuss ways to better deal with North Korea’s threats and to strengthen security cooperation in the region. General Joseph Dunford is also expected to reiterate Washington’s commitment to deploy the U.S. missile defense system THAAD and provide extended deterrence, including the U.S. nuclear umbrella. Dunford is also scheduled to hold talks with his Japanese and Chinese counterparts.

In China, Dunford is expected to urge Beijing to do more to pressure North Korea.
