President Xi meets Madagascan counterpart in Beijing

published: 2017-03-27 18:17:10 Chinese President Xi Jinping has held talks with Madagascan President Hair Rah-draw Nari-Mampia-neen, who arrived in Beijing after attending the Boao Forum for Asia. Xi Jinping said the two countries should hold regular high-level meetings, and strengthen cooperation in infrastructure and human resources, and especially in agriculture and fishing. He offered support for Madagascar in the “Belt and Road” initiative as a bridge between China and the African continent. Rah-draw Nari-Mampia-neen said the timing of his visit is significant as the two countries are celebrating the 45th anniversary of bilateral ties. He said China has achieved spectacular development in the past decade, and is an important partner for Africa. Madagascar hopes to deepen cooperation to help speed up the process of urbanization.
