World leaders continue to arrive in Beijing ahead of Belt and Road Forum

Over the past two days, a number of world leaders have arrived in Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum which starts on Sunday. President of Laos, Bounnhang Vorachith, and Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Sen, have arrived in the Chinese capital. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has said that the Belt and Road Initiative gives hope to developing countries for their infrastructure development. Earlier, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, also arrived. A total of 29 heads of state and government leaders will attend the forum making it the highest-level international meeting on the initiative since it was proposed by President Xi Jinping in 2013. More leaders and dignitaries are scheduled to touch down in Beijing later today, including Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, and Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
